Like every kid, the teenaged septuplets were due to attend high school and in 2012 they started attending Carlisle High School in Carlisle, Iowa. The crew would take their packed lunches and backpacks on their school bus every day as they journeyed through high school.

High school is a world of its own, with its own sets of rules and challenges. Luckily, the McCaugheys always had each other and could rely on one another for help whenever they needed it. During this time, the septuplets would realize something about each of themselves.

Independent Aspirations

From their infancy, it was evident each of the septuplets possessed unique characters and traits. Despite being continuously grouped together, the seven siblings had always prized their individualism.

Alexis was known as the smart one, Kenny Jr. was the class clown, Kelsey and Brandon were the family comics who thrived in athletics, Brandon was also seen as the most fearless and stubborn of them all. As each of the septuplets pursued their own interests, there was one hobby where they would all come together to enjoy.

From Womb Mates To Bandmates

The McCaughey kids had a variety of individual interests such as cross-country, choir, wrestling, soccer, speech contests, and more. However, of one their hobbies converged together – the school band.

The teenaged siblings were seen playing at various halftime events of their school. While day-to-day activities kept ticking along, as usual, there was always one occasion the media would be a part of.

The septuplets caught the attention of the media again as they became the first set of septuplets to reach the age of 16. Naturally, like their peers, they all had one thing on their mind – driving.

Buying separate vehicles for each of the serendipitous seven was never going to be an option for the McCaughey parents. So when they reached the legal age of driving, their father Kenny, permitted them to each get jobs and pay for their own way through driver’s education, and if they wanted, purchase cars.

As the seven kept getting older, but how were Mr. and Mrs. McCaughey doing?

Home Life

Even as the siblings found first love, learned to drive, and dealt with the highs and lows of teenage life, parents Kenny and Bobbi never looked like they would collapse under the magnitude of their task. The McCaughey parents overcame every struggle and ensure the family maintained a tight-knit bond between each other.

The hardworking couple was extremely chuffed by the septuplets. Bobbi said of her active children, “It’s fun to see the work pay off.” Throughout the years, the attention primarily focused on the septuplets, yet what became of their elder sibling, Mikayla?

The Septuplets’ Elder Sister

As the septuplets were busy making headlines and celebrating every passing life event, the public wondered what had come of their the siblings’ elder sister. The first-born of the McCaughey children, Mikayla too worked hard and found her purpose in life.

She graduated from both Des Moines Area Community College and Arizona State University after which she married and gave birth to her first child. Mikayla continued to stay in touch with her siblings throughout the years, with the seven reaching yet another huge milestone.
